The Junkluggers Junk Removal Franchising Opportunities Featured in the Long Island Business News

The Junkluggers in The Long Island Business News in an article titled, “His business is picking up.” The article details how local entrepreneur, Scott Zane, discovered The Junkluggers after reading about the brand in a previous article in the Long Island Business News, and how it inspired him to open his own franchise and service the South Shore or Suffolk County with their eco-friendly concept. Blue Point resident Scott Zane was looking for a change of pace following a career in operations for Cintas, Poland Spring and FedEx.

After reading an April story in LIBN about a new trash-hauling concept called Junkluggers, Zane decided to take the plunge himself and bought the company’s first Suffolk County franchise.

Zane, 38, said he liked Junkluggers’ eco-friendly model, which donates and recycles all usable stuff that’s hauled away in its bright green trucks. The concept’s low barrier to entry didn’t hurt either. Total startup costs range from $70,000 to $120,000, which includes a truck, three months of operating expenses, signage, insurance and management software.

Just opened for business Oct. 1, Zane has already had about a dozen junk-haul-away jobs in his service area, the towns of Babylon and Islip.

Need an added wrinkle to this feel-good story? Much of the kids’ toys, bicycles and furniture he picked up went to Habitat for Humanity and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
