Donation Pickup Services

We are proud to be the first junk removal company to be truly eco-friendly and have been offering our customers a convenient donation pickup service since day one. In the early days, when our founder Josh Cohen noticed that customers were calling to remove some really nice furniture from their homes, he made it his mission to give those items a second chance in another home by donating them to those in need in his hometown community of Fairfield County. Since then, The Junkluggers has been an industry leader in eco-friendly disposal practices, with a goal of keeping all of the items we remove out of the landfill by 2020 through donations and recycling.

How it Works

When you schedule your free, no obligation donation pick up estimate with The Junkluggers, we will send two friendly and uniformed luggers to your location to provide you with an on-site quote. If you agree to the price quoted, we will never charge you more than the original quote – we guarantee it! In fact, if your items take up less space than we originally estimated, you’ll end up paying the lower amount.

Aa part of our donation pick up service, we pledge to donate and recycle whatever we can on your behalf as part of our eco-friendly mission to save the planet one piece of junk at a time. All labor included in removing, sorting and donating your items on your behalf is built into the price of our convenient one stop shop donation pick up and recycling service. We often have same day and next day appointments available so that you can donate the items you’d like right away without having to wait for the charity you’ve chosen to donate them to come by to pick it up in a week or two.

Eco-Friendly Mission

We strive to donate as many of your items that we lug away as possible. Not only is this beneficial to your local community, as those in need receive much needed furniture, clothing, and other items, it is also great for the environment because we are keeping useful items out of the landfill.

When you call The Junkluggers, you can rest easy knowing that we will make our best efforts to find a second home for the items you no longer need. We are very serious about our commitment to being eco-friendly and green and we are very proud to donate or recycle on your behalf. In fact, in most cases will try two or even three donation centers if your items are not accepted at the first. For certain items, we will even go out of our way to see if a local school or police precinct can benefit from their use if a donation center cannot accept them.

Last year alone we managed to keep over fourteen million pounds of junk out of the landfill. Within that 14,000,000 pounds of would be garbage were couches donated to formerly homeless veterans, toys donated to children’s museums, shoes donated to those without, and so much more.

Tax-Deductible Receipts

And not only are your items going to a great cause, you are also benefiting in the form of a tax-deductible receipt! You pay us to remove your items and sort them for you for donations, recycling and disposal, and for your part in choosing an eco-friendly solution to your junk removal needs, we are happy to pay it forward and pass along the savings to you. The tax-deductible receipt can sometimes off-set most or even all of the cost of our services depending on the items we are able to donate on your behalf!

Need help totaling up your tax-deductible receipt? A good rule of thumb for any item not included on this list is to deduct 30% of the item’s original purchase price. Or you can use our handy valuation guide based on guidelines set by the IRS on fair market value prices.

Keeping items out of the landfill is our goal, but one of the greatest benefits of our eco-friendly mission is the impact we are able to make on our local communities. We partner with a wide variety of local charities that help a myriad of causes. From assisting with the mentally ill to protecting the local pet population to helping formerly homeless veterans furnish their new apartments, we are extremely proud of the good we are able to do right in our own backyards.

  • The Alliance Against Homelessness

    The Alliance Against Homelessness is a non-profit organization that helps to assist seriously and persistently mentally ill people who are homeless in finding shelter and rebuilding their lives. Providing stable housing promotes stability, wellness and recovery. Of all the individuals that The Alliance Against Homelessness has helped, not one has returned to an institutional setting or back to the streets - a truly amazing success record!
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters

    Big Brothers & Big Sisters is one of the most respected mentoring networks in the United States, helping children work towards realizing their potential and building a better future. Donated clothing and toys help shield underprivileged children from harsh realities while enabling them to develop better self esteem and confidence.
  • Boots on the Ground

    Boots on the Ground provides food and furniture for Veterans and their families. As part of the Project Veteran Support Program; Boots on the Ground receives wish lists from VA caseworkers & various Veteran support organizations of needs that local military/veteran families presently need in order to get back on their feet. Oftentimes these needs are furniture and food to get their new lives started - that's where we come in. We donate your gently used furniture so that a Veteran can furnish his or her new apartment.
  • Big Reuse

    Big Reuse is New York City's only non-profit retail outlet for salvaged and surplus building materials. The reuse centers have everything from panel doors to high end refrigerators, window shutters to reclaimed lumber, kitchen cabinet sets to salvaged flooring. We visit one of their two locations, either Gowanus or Astoria, at least once a day to donate building materials.
  • Furniture Sharehouse

    Furniture Sharehouse provides free furniture to economically disadvantaged individuals and families living in Westchester County, giving them the basic household furnishings that enable them to rebuild their lives and live with dignity.
  • Good Stuff Thrift

    Good Stuff Thrift is locally owned and operated in Bucks County, PA. This means there is no cooperate overhead or governance and they employ local labor, so money goes directly towards helping the local communities from donations and stimulating the local economy. A fun thing that sets Good Stuff Thrift apart is the set up of their stores – each occupies an old house, with many rooms, each filled with their own unique charm and character.
  • Goodwill/Goodwill Industries

    Goodwill/Goodwill Industries is a nationwide organization with the mission of putting people to work. Goodwill’s Retail Services collect donated clothing and household goods, then sells the items in their stores for affordable prices. Revenue from sales of donated items provides funding for vocational training and other programs and services that Goodwill offers. It is important to note that 93 cents of every dollar they spend goes directly to their programs and services. Goodwill is consistently ranked among top charities that make your donation go further.
  • Hillcrest

    Hillcrest Transitional Housing offers homeless families, singles & youth a disciplined educational program within a caring, supportive environment. Unlike many organizations whose focus is one-time or emergency care, Hillcrest’s primary objective is to move clients from homelessness to self-sufficiency within 90 days by addressing the total life situation of the homeless families they serve; longer term transitional housing options may be available to clients with excessive barriers to housing. Donations to Hillcrest thrift stores help raise funds for these fantastic programs.
  • Hope for the Warriors

    The mission of Hope for the Warriors is to enhance the quality of life for post-9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty. Hope For The Warriors is dedicated to restoring a sense of self, restoring the family unit, and restoring hope for our service members and our military families.
  • Housing Works

    Housing Works is a healing community of people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. Their mission is to end the dual crises of homelessness and AIDS through relentless advocacy, the provision of lifesaving services, and entrepreneurial businesses that sustain their efforts. We donate furniture and other items several times a week.
  • The Humane Society Thrift Shop

    The New Rochelle Humane Society is dedicated to providing individual loving care for lost, abandoned, injured, and mistreated animals. We bring donations for them to sell in their shop to raise funds to provide animal controls services to the community and to keep the animals at the shelter happy and healthy.
  • Impact! Thrift

    The primary mission of Impact! Thrifts chain of stores is to financially support local charities with monthly checks to help them in their fund raising process. They function like an umbrella charity supporting a network of charities around Pennsylvania. Net proceeds have benefitted a wide array of local charities that support children and families in crisis situations, struggling single parents, the blind, medical clinics providing free or low-cost healthcare, and soup kitchens providing food to the hungry.
  • The Institute for Community Living

    The ICL is a human service agency based in New York. They offer health care, mental health care, family support, residential assistance, and treatment to almost 10,000 adults, families, and children throughout New York City and Montgomery County, PA. Their mission is to assist individuals and families affected by or at risk of mental illness or developmental disabilities with integrated comprehensive care designed to improve their wellbeing, recovery and participation in community living.
  • Isaiah’s Room

    Isaiah’s Room is an outreach program that takes place in New Rochelle at New York Covenant Church. Each Saturday, disadvantaged or homeless people are invited to help themselves to some clothing, along with food and coffee.
  • The Jericho Project

    The Jericho project encourages people to envision a healthier future for themselves and their families and empowers them to take the necessary steps to achieve it. Their programs touch the cornerstones of a person’s life — housing, employment, wellness and family stability. This holistic approach to helping people enables individuals to access extensive, results-based programs at their level of need — whether they are coming to us from a shelter, or are one paycheck away from homelessness.
  • Lantern

    The Lantern Organization participates in activities that strengthen New York communities by increasing the supply of affordable housing combined with on-site opportunities for personal enrichment and growth. Lantern houses special needs and low-income populations, including: families headed by an adult living with HIV, mental illness, or other special needs; young adults who have aged out of foster care; and families headed by a senior aged adult who is caring for children. The Junkluggers is proud to work with The Lantern Group by donating furniture directly to their clients.
  • Lost Paws Rescue

    Lost Paws Rescue of Texas is a non-profit group comprised of volunteers who dedicate themselves to rescuing animals. They are a no kill rescue group, operating solely on donations. They do not receive any type of government or institutional funding which is why your donations are so valuable. Their volunteers foster the rescue animals in their own homes and they provide all rescued adoptables with medical treatment, good food, exercise, love and all the socialization they need.
  • The Military Resilience Project

    The Military Resilience Project believes that resiliency and reintegration has as much to do with the community as it does those who have served.  They focus on weaving Prevention, Advocacy, and Sustainability into all areas of support, in order to facilitate the best possible outcomes.  All too often there is a focus on the “problems” that a service member, veteran, or military family may be challenged by, and less of a focus on creating spaces and opportunities for our military to be heard in the everyday. Their Philosophy is to provide integrative behavioral health solutions that revolve around the concept of building strength and sustainability, from micro to macro levels of functionality.

    The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA)'s mission is to increase opportunities for low- and moderate-income New Yorkers by providing safe, affordable housing and facilitating access to social and community services. More than 400,000 New Yorkers reside in NYCHA’s 334 public housing developments around the five boroughs, and another 235,000 receive subsidized rental assistance in private homes through the NYCHA-administered Section 8 Leased Housing Program. The Junkluggers brings gently-used furniture to NYCHA's Furniture Exchange Program to be distributed throughout the community.
  • St. Thomas Church Thrift Shop

    St. Thomas is the oldest congregation in Mamaroneck. The Junkluggers donates to their Thrift Shop and Used Book Store that is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays, offering used clothing and small household items for sale. Proceeds benefit the congregation and helps to fund local outreach within the community.
  • Salvation Army

    The Salvation Army has many facets, but we primarily work with the The Salvation Army Family Stores which are the core of their Adult Rehabilitation Center philosophy. The Salvation Army community stores provide quality clothing, furniture and other goods at bargain prices. The proceeds from these stores are used to fund their Adult Rehabilitation Centers which are thus self sustaining. The Salvation Army helps employ rehabilitating adults in their Family Stores which provide great deals and bargain prices on clothing, furniture, household goods, sporting equipment, books, electronics and much more.
  • Savers

    Savers is a leader and pioneer in the retail thrift industry. They have more than 120 nonprofit alliances with local charities in the areas they service. Their stores are filled with current looks, authentic vintage finds, housewares, collectibles, furniture and more. Items donated to Savers help positively impact their nonprofit alliances and associated programs – items also make their way to individuals in developing countries that help fuel local economies by making quality goods available at affordable prices.
  • Southampton Animal Shelter

    The Southampton Animal Shelter Thrift Shop accepts our donations of used clothing, shoes, accessories, and furniture among other items and uses the profits for items sold in their shop to take care of the animals in the shelter.
  • Surplus Exchange

    Surplus Exchange safely and responsibly recycles e-waste as well as furniture in Kansas City. All e-waste is locally recycled in the most eco-friendly manner possible. All electronics are either resold or donated to local area non-profits. TSE is the first company in Missouri (or Kansas) to received an e-Steward certification, setting the standard for responsible and community-minded recycling solutions.
