What items will junk removal companies not take?

Junk removal companies take almost any non-hazardous household or commercial item, so the short list of what they will not take is mostly hazardous materials, things like wet paint, chemicals, solvents, fuels, propane tanks, asbestos, and medical waste, which fall under special disposal rules.

One of the frustrating things about running a household is that, given enough time, you’ll accumulate a lot of stuff. And a lot of that stuff is harder to get rid of than it is to acquire. You’ll likely be glad to know a junk removal crew can take the vast majority of it.

The exceptions are worth listing upfront. The Junkluggers of Fairfield and Westchester Counties can’t take hazmat. Items like wet paint, household chemicals, solvents, motor oil, gasoline, pesticides, and propane tanks are flammable, toxic, or both, and they fall under special disposal rules that a standard junk truck is not equipped to handle. There are special facilities for these, and your town likely runs collection days for exactly this purpose.

Aside from hazmat, junk removal takes nearly everything else. That includes all the clutter that tends to pile up thanks to furniture, mattresses, appliances, old electronics, exercise equipment, yard debris, renovation and construction debris, and general stuff. We’ll even take old hot tubs. Big or small, if it is non-hazardous, odds are we can haul it.

The easiest way to know for sure if your waste can be picked up is to book an appointment. The Junkluggers of Fairfield and Westchester Counties can give you a written on-site estimate and tell you plainly if something falls outside what can be carried, and we can often point you in the right direction for that which we cannot take ourselves.

Ready to clear out your space? You can always schedule your junk removal pickup online. The Junkluggers of Fairfield and Westchester Counties serves Stamford, Greenwich, Norwalk, Westport, New Canaan, White Plains, Scarsdale, and Yonkers.
