They say one man’s junk is another man’s treasure. In the case of Josh Cohen, it’s his livelihood.

The 30-year-old Connecticut native is the founder and chief executive officer of The Junkluggers LLC, a junk-removal service. Since its inception in 2004, the company said it has helped customers clear out more than 4,500 tons of items, such as old furniture and appliances from their homes.

The Manhattan-based company, which said it posted $2.3 million in sales last year, is expanding. In January it began offering franchises, selling five so far in New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. Junkluggers is pitching four franchise territories in North Jersey, in Bergen, Passaic and Morris counties, and has talked to potential franchisees at the recent International Franchise Expo at the Javits Center.
